A Review and Assessment of Progress in Implementation of Agenda 21 in Croatia
An overview of the situation and obstacles that we must overcome on the way to sustainable development.
In January 2002, ODRAZ created the document “Overview and assessment of progress in the implementation of Agenda 21 in Croatia”, which was financed by UNDP with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Spatial Planning, and for the needs of the Rio+10 – UN Summit in Johannesburg.
The aim of this report was to assess how the principles of sustainable development and good governance from Agenda 21 have been implemented in practice in Croatia. The document covers various topics, from the state of the environment, the framework for socio-economic development, education, the role of different sectors and stakeholders in society, etc.
The draft document was discussed at a workshop in January 2002, organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Spatial Planning. The workshop was attended by representatives of several ministries, faculties, institutes, associations and experts in certain fields. After taking into account the comments received, the text was translated into English.
UNDP printed the document in both languages.
