The fourth block of the STEM Academy held in Rijeka
The fourth block of STEM Academy was held in the Rijeka on March 31 and April 1, 2022, as part of the activities of the project STEM for a sustainable future. As part of the education, 17 representatives of partner organisations improved their communication and presentation skills and visited examples of good practice – StepRI from Rijeka and ICT company Infobip in Vodnjan.
The project will strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations, students and other young people, teaching and non-teaching staff of partner educational institutions and thus gain a new circle of trained stakeholders to promote STEM and strengthen cooperation between academia and civil society.

The topic of the fourth block of education led by psychologist Carmen Majetić Pavić was dedicated to communication and presentation skills. After the participants were introduced about the ways to achieve successful communication and prepare a successful presentation, Milan Bajić, a senior lecturer at the Technical Polytechnic of Zagreb, gave a presentation on the application of digital image processing in society.
The second day was followed by a visit to examples of good practice. Jana Blažević Marčela from the Science and Technology Park of the University of Rijeka StepRI hosted us on the Rijeka campus. It is an entrepreneurial support institution founded in 2008 by the University of Rijeka.
After Rijeka, we traveled to Istria, where we visited the impressive Infobip campus of Pangea in Vodnjan, which covers 17,000 square meters. The campus consists of a large central building, a park, a tennis and beach volleyball court, and houses built in a traditional Mediterranean style. The Infobip campus is not only a business space for 300 local employees, but also an education center for new employees from the most remote parts of the world. One of the most successful Croatian IT companies and the largest global communication platforms in our environment, founded in 2006, employs over 80 nationalities. Monika Ivanović, the manager responsible for branding Infobip’s business, told us more about what Infobip does.
