Panel discussion “Innovative approaches to learning about sustainable development in schools”
Future education should be based on cross-curricular topics, and students should be encouraged with intrinsic motivation, empathy, solidarity and responsibility, it was pointed out at the panel discussion “Innovative approaches to learning about sustainable development in schools” held on December 10, 2020.
During the event, which brought together over 60 participants, we presented several examples of new approaches to learning about sustainable development, designed through partnership projects of schools and civil society organizations.
Teachers have a very important role as implementers of sustainable development ideas in children and youth. Therefore, it is very important not only to educate young people, but also encourage professional development of teachers on sustainable development and better understanding of the principles of sustainable development, the importance of active participation in development, volunteering, etc., which is achieved through cooperation of schools with civil society organizations.
The panel discussion was held within the project “Let’s Think Sustainably – Teaching Youth for Sustainable Community Development”. More about the project read here: https://www.odraz.hr/projects/all-projects/lets-think-sustainably-teaching-youth-for-sustainable-community-development/?lang=en
