EESC and Community Led Local Development
Croatian Office for Cooperation with NGOs organized the third meeting with Croatian associations, in cooperation with members of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). On Friday, 8 July 2016, EESC member Lidija Pavic-Rogosic presented the role and the work of EESC, as well as a new approach of the EU to sustainable local development – CLLD (Community Led Local Development).
This is a bottom-up approach, where local stakeholders together deliberate about the needs of the community, and based on the specifics of their region, create and implement local development strategy.
They gather together and establish a local inter-sectoral development partnership – Local Action Group (LAG).
EESC opinion on CLLD and its recommendations was also presented to more than 20 representatives of civil society organisations from Zagreb, Osijek, Split, Petrinja and other areas of Croatia.
ODRAZ’s short film about CLLD was also presented. It can be seen here (English sub-titles available)
