Active citizens for Zagreb

The aim of the project was to inform the stakeholders of the local development in Zagreb on good approaches to local development, both in Croatia and in EU. Only informed and educated representatives of the local community will encourage and expedite the processes of the local assembly by connecting and arranging for the purpose of starting the preparation and implementation of development plans and specific activities.

Within the project were carried out the following acitivites:

  • prepared informational material “Community-Led Local Development”– A new approach to local development in the EU
  • a two-day workshop on “Sustainable Local Development led by community” was held (Trešnjavka Cultural Centre, 5-6  November 2014) for 26 participants – mostly representatives of NGOs from the city of Zagreb, as well as cultural centers, institutions and  from the business world.

          • The participants were acquainted, in the course of two days, with the concept of sustainable development with a new approach to local development in EU,  with the basic principles of community organizing, levels of involvement in decision-making processes and the basics of creating a local development strategy.
          • a short promotional animated film was prepared about the principles of Community Led-Local Development
          • a round table and public presentation of the film “Community- Led Local Development” was held  (Zagreb 18 December 2014), which was attended by 50 participants, from CSOs and the representetatives of the City of Zagreb and the City Assembly, and from businesses  to cultural centers, the World Bank and from ministries.
            The pannellists were Dubravka Jurlina Alibegović (The Institute of Economics, Zagreb), Nives Kopajtich Škrlec (Association of Cities in Croatia) and Vesna Lendić Kasalo (Office for Cooperation with NGOs).
