Our 15 years of contributions to change and commitment to sustainable development
On October 29th, 2015, in good company of about 60 associates, partners and friends, ODRAZ celebrated 15 years of work and our commitment to sustainable development. Of course, we worked a little- we talked about the new global goals for sustainable development, that were adopted at the recent UN meeting in New York. We also remembered the road that ODRAZ took in the past 15 years and later, we ended up socializing with refreshments and music.
Five years ago at the same place (Restaurant Maksimir in Zagreb) ODRAZ marked tenth anniversary of ODRAZ. Time flies. ODRAZ is now a teenager. Not a problematic, unpredictable teenager, unsure of himself and others. ODRAZ has learned and developed himself, he is confident and stronger than ever.
At the beginning of our celebration, however, we worked a little. Last month, at the summit of the United Nations in New York, the new 17 global goals for sustainable development were adopted.
All the participants were given tasks to discuss and select in groups among 17 goals the three that they think are most important and relevant for Croatia. In the same way, our guests had to discuss and choose the three goals that reflect ODRAZ. And finally, they had to individually choose “their goal” or “our goals” (at least 3 of them) in which they recognize themselves, their work and their dedication.
For our participants, the three most important goals of sustainable development in Croatia are:
- Decent work and economic growth
- Quality education
- Sustainable cities and sustainable communities “The population of Earth is concentrated in the cities.
Work of ODRAZ is recognized in the area of meeting the objectives of the partnership to the objectives of sustainable cities and sustainable communites as well as quality education.
After we commented on the results of the workshop, Lidija Pavić-Rogošić, director of ODRAZ took us through the presentation of the last 15 years of ODRAZ, recalling the way that ODRAZ took in that time- the challanges, sucesses and accomplishments, she also presented the team that has achieved all this, the co-workers, partners and networks as well as how the ODRAZ started, all the projects and activities that
ODRAZ carried out during the past 15 years, all who provided us with financial and technical support.
