ODRAZ director took part in the panel discussion on “The potential of community-led action in the EU”
On 22 September 2017, EESC delegation launched event of the European Day of Sustainable Communities, which the Sustainable Development Observatory is co-organising with ECOLISE. ODRAZ director Lidija Pavić-Rogošić took part in the panel discussion on “The potential of community-led action in the EU” as a speaker.
The conference brought together policy makers and representatives of the thousands of community-led initiatives on climate change and sustainability in Europe in order to launch the first ever European Day of Sustainable Communities (EDSC) that took place the following day.
The conference aimed to engage European Union (EU) policy-makers and stakeholders in Brussels by demonstrating how community-led initiatives on climate change and sustainability have a vital role to play in achieving climate targets.
During conference panel discussion ˝The potential of community-led action in the EU˝ was held. Community-led initiatives on climate change and sustainability are helping to mobilise citizens, change mind-sets and behaviour, and catalyse decentralised solutions based on social and technological innovations. These bottom-up approaches need a policy framework that enables action and fosters the spreading of such initiatives. The panel discussion will explore key elements of an enabling EU policy framework. Lidija Pavić-Rogošić, EESC Member, Director of the Movement for Sustainable Community Development (ODRAZ) Croatia took part in panel discussion.
