ODRAZ director prepared students of High School Mate Balota from Poreč for YEYS, the EESC’s event for young people
Lidija Pavić-Rogošić, ODRAZ director and member of European economic and social committee, on March 10 2021 held lecture to students form High School Mate Balota from Poreč regarding their participation on European youth summit on climate change, which will be held online on 18th and 19th March. They talked about history, institutions, benefits for youth in EU and EU values.
Purpose of 12th YEYS event is to hear students opinion on how to approach overcoming climate crisis and how to get closer to goal of becoming climate neutral society by 2050.
On this year youth debate „Our climate, our future“ will participate 33 schools, one form each of the 27 EU members and also 5 candidate countries (North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Montenegro and Albania). School form the United Kingdom will also take part as a concrete evidence of the EESC’s determination to remain closely associated with British civil society.
Results of 2021 YEY S will be given to the international environmental policy makers and promoted at conferences across Europe, including European Parliamnt’s European Youth Meeting (EYE) to be held in late May 2021.
As students participate in their climate change conference, professors will also participate in online informative meetings which will be organised by three main EU institutions (European Partiament, European Commission and EU Council) to expand their knowledge of the work of European Union and its resources for education and youth.
EGSO and YEYS will together conduct social media campaign on Instagram and Facebook, to raise awareness of climate change and encourage youth to embrace sustainable lifestyle.
