First Urban M project meeting with stakeholders engaged in maker spaces topics, was held on December 10, 2018 in Zagreb Innovation Centre. ODRAZ director presented the first version of Action plan for the development of such spaces where people of different occupations work together to create a new product or service in the city of Zagreb.

The meeting was held within the project “Urban Manufacturing – Stimulating Innovation Through Collaborative Maker Spaces” in which ODRAZ participates as an associate of the City of Zagreb, in charge of the process of drafting an action plan and gathering and linking stakeholders.

After presenting the participants, the project leader Zrinko Rebrin from the City of Zagreb briefly presented the project, pointing out that the project has more dimensions:

  • getting acquainted with the project partner and the practice of maker spaces in places where they come from and exchanging experiences;
  • linking and collaborating with relevant stakeholders in each city / region,
  • the impact on the programming documents that will enable the development of “space of creation” both locally and impact on relevant EU funds,
  • preparation of an action plan describing planned activities.

He emphasized that organizing such meetings at least once during six months is an important part of the project, which is the recognition and networking of all relevant stakeholders.

After that, Lidija Pavić-Rogošić from ODRAZ presented the first draft of the Action Plan for the Development of Maker Spaces, where people of different occupations work together to create a new product or service in the city of Zagreb. She pointed that the action plan was based on the template that was made within the project.

Furthermore, a conversation was held, in which participants shared their observations, experiences and thoughts. Through the group work, they discussed possible additional challenges, especially for the development and action of “maker spaces”.

The meeting ended with the introduction of further activities related to the Action Plan. Once all relevant information has been collected, a final draft will be prepared, which will be translated into English and delivered to the project manager. The project team will visit the project leaders in Birmingham in the first half of February and consider together what it might add to the Action Plan. Subsequently, a meeting of shareholders will be held again, which will give additional inputs. After that, the final text of the Action Plan will be drafted and presented to the City of Zagreb and stakeholders.
