5th Assembly of the CIVINET Network and Roundtable on planning of sustainable urban mobility held in Kruševac

On 23rd of February 2018, City of Kruševac hosted 5th Assembly of network for sustainable mobility CIVINET Slovenia-Croatia-Southeastern Europe. It was an opportunity for gathering of members of the most numerous European network CIVINET, which currently has over 140 members from 6 countries. 80 members of the Network gathered in Kruševac – representatives of cities, ministries, faculties, institutes, CSOs, companies and other stakeholders from the field of sustainable transport in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. ODRAZ has the role of the secretariat of this Network.

The Assembly was opened by the Network coordinator Srđan Škunca from the City of Rijeka. The Assembly was welcomed by the Mayor of Kruševac, Jasmina Palurović, who thanked for the opportunity to host the assembly of this most active and comprehensive European network CIVINET. Just before the Assembly, meetings of new Board of directors as well as Political board, consisting of representatives of cities and municipalities, were held.

Lidija Pavić-Rogošić (ODRAZ/Secretariat of the Network) informed the members of the Assembly about the status of membership and presented the Report about the activities of the Network in the year 2017.

Srđan Škunca, Network coordinator, presented the Plan of activities of the Network for the year 2017. At the end, this year’s Political statement, adopted by the Political Committee, was presented to members of the Assembly.

The Roundtable on planning of sustainable urban mobility

After the Assembly, the Roundtable was devoted to the planning of sustainable urban mobility, featuring examples and challenges of SUMPs from Ljubljana, Malmö and Kruševac, and the Croatian and Slovenian examples of the public bicycle system – Nextbike and BicikeLJ. After the work program, a touristic tour of the city was organized.

Vlado Babić from City of Ljubljana held interesting introducing presentation “What is SUMP and how it innovates planning”. It explained how SUMP brings new way of thinking about solving of traffic problems and mobility, interdisciplinary approach and broadness. Cities with SUMP ensure better life quality and better response to needs of inhabitants of whole local community. After presentation, new ODRAZ film ˝Citizens know best – participation of citizens in the decision-making process˝ was presented.
